This attractive high-quality Collector’s Edition of the angling classic, “In the Ring of the Rise” by Vincent C. Marinaro (1976), was published by the Easton Press in 1996.

A trout is vulnerable to the fisherman because he eats. That is the theme of our inquiry…It must begin with the most important of all visual element evidence – namely the surface of disturbance of the water created by a foraging trout. The ring of the rise, often described as a riseform, is the distinctive identifying mark of a feeding trout…For the trout fisherman it is as important as a fingerprint or footprint in human affairs."

Vincent C. Marinaro - Introduction

Chapters include: The Anatomy of the Rise, What the Fish Sees and Does Not See, Fishing to the Ring of the Rise, Rod function: Rod Design, The Hidden Hatch, Big Fly: Big Trout, Small Fly: Big Fish…

It is richly illustrated by Pearce Bates, with excellent colour and b/w photographs of rising trout designed as a learning aid for the serious angler.
