These highly decorative and very beautiful copper plate engravings of crustacea by Jacob Van der Schley (Amsterdam, 1715 – 1779), are from the rare and most desired volume of Abbé Antoine François Prévost d'Exiles “Histoire Générale Des Voyages,"  published in 1763.

Originally printed in b/w, these exceptionally fine professionally hand coloured plates, illustrate the different species that inhabit the waters of Indonesia.
