THE PEACOCK WRASSE print (Iniistius Pavoninus Cuvier)

£60.00

These original and stunningly beautiful chromolithographs of tropical fish are from the Fishes of Hawaiian Islands by David Starr Jordan and Barton Warren Evermann. Only 250 copies were published worldwide.

The majority of fish plates were hand painted in watercolours by Albertus H. Baldwin. Others were executed in oils by Charles Bradford Hudson.

A specially constructed aquarium was used by the artists to capture their living specimens’ gorgeous vibrant colours. They were then completed by the renowned New York lithographers, Julius Bien & Company.
