This very fine engraving, with superb recent professional hand colouring of "A Fishing Match on the River Lea at Ponder's End," North London, by Joseph Nash, appeared in The Graphic magazine on April 17, 1873.
The Graphic was a British weekly illustrated newspaper first published on the 4th December 1869, and devoted much attention to the arts, with many admirers including Vincent Van Gogh.
Writer's for the newspaper included Thomas Hardy, George Eliot, and Antony Trollop.
