A MEMBER OF THE THAMES ANGLING CLUB fishing print 1873

£45.00

This very fine engraving, with superb recent professional hand colouring of "A Member of the Thames Angling Club" fishing in a punt on the Thames between Richmond and Hampton Court, appeared in the weekly publication, "The Illustrated London News," published in 1885.

"The Illustrated London News" was the world's first illustrated newspaper which began publication in 1842 and ran for over one hundred and sixty years until it ceased production in 2003.

Known for its rich collection of world news, arts and culture, and political events, it often featured very fine drawings such as this tranquil scene of two members of the club tackling up and trotting a float down the stream.
